There was a time, not too long ago, when the people at McDonald's took your
order with a pencil and paper and hand-calculated the price. They did
estimated gross sales by the number of buns and burgers used, and
hand-counted the waste from a bucket behind the front line.

We have come so far...

So - the wife, rugrat and I go to Sonic yesterday at high noon and get
turned away because... the computers are down and it's going to take 15+
minutes to get them back. This makes me wonder...

1) Why these people can't use a calculator, or lord forbid, simple
freaking preschool mathematics to figure out our total? I understand if
they need to track the orders, but it's noon - the busiest time of the
year. Deal with it.

2) What kind of computers are they using that would take that long to
reboot and start up? Heck, even Win95 on a slow system would be up and
running in 4 minutes at most.

Am I crazy... or was I just being cranky because I was hungry??
