It must be the moon and stars in alignment, or something, cuz man there are a lot of project management type thingies lately, neh?
As chance would have it, I've been polishing my little turd up... :-) Neater bits: I use ical4j to make calendars (and probably eventually send event requests/confirmations) that apps like mozilla or outlook can connect to as "remote" calendars. The calendars are made up of either "hard time" (stuff that was done) or "estimated hours" (future time)-- it ties into the ticket tracking system. The ticket system works with Eclipse's Mylyn (my fav) and has a dojo-ed front end for the web, which pretty much matches the stuff in eclipse, but with nice "search-as-you-type" pull-down selectors and whatnot. Maybe pimper than the eclipse task interface, actually, cuz of that. Since there are ticket priorities, and a priority order, I can add up the estimated hours, spread them across work weeks (user needs to enter what their work week hours look like), and then, when a priority changes, bam! You can instantly see where it pushes other stuff out to, or whatnot. Still building stuff in... managing "risk" (in the project management way) to ticket completion and whatnot... but it's really been quite a bit of fun. Which is ironic, sorta. Hard to explain why, but I love saying I'm working on my projects project. Eh... It'll be out as open source, eventually, but since I work on it in my spare time, who knows when that will be. I thought the calendar idea was cool tho, and wanted to share. I'll be releasing the ifcal4j stuff in a "calendar" model-glue actionpack as well, eventually. -- Giving money and power to government is like giving whiskey and car keys to teenage boys. -P.J.
