If you're trying to do it all through active directory, not having the
machines on the domain may be a problem.

Why don't the XP machines join the domain?

Eh.  That aside, if they really are network printers, you can give
them static IP addresses, and then create TCP/IP printer ports on the
XP machines, using the IPs for the printers.  That'll let you print to
them without having to log onto the domain and everything.

I usually just print directly to the printer.  You loose the nifty
"auto-installing" printer driver stuff that MS provides, but sometimes
that's a small price to pay to get up and rolling quickly.
