All it has to do is hit any one of the 40,000 satellites orbiting the planet and its trajectory would change so that on its next pass it will definitely hit.
Satellites orbit at 35,000 KM in the earths orbit. This Asteroid is going to pass at 32,000 KM.It is due to pass in 2029, and then in 2036 after that.
