Happened this morning, they think it was a white shark. It's almost unheard of for there to be an attack here.
I was surfing at Scripps this morning, about 7-8 miles south of Solana Beach. There were a ton of guys in the lineup and I wondered if there was nowhere else to surf. Then I saw the Coast Guard helicopter flying up and down the coast, and when I got out of the water there was a fire engine and emergency response team hanging out in the parking lot at La Jolla Shores. I wondered why - normally we don't see emergency crews on standby until the tourist season really gets going in June/July.
