1981-ish TI-99/4a was my first computer. Learned Basic 1986 While I was in high school, Dad bought a Bentley Model Model XT (8086) kit that he put together. Learned DOS, did a lot of playing with and customizing VolksWriter 1987-1992 Went to school for Graphic Design (earned BFA in GD with minors in Printmaking, Drawing and Art History) Used Macs at school (MAC II, Quadras and LCs) 1993 - Got a job at a defense contractor in Leavenworth Kansas (Titan Tactical Applications) and was part of a team to tear apart and document Janus, the Army's wargame program. Got to see all kinds of cool "non-existent" functionality (e.g., we found and documented code, then the editors crossed it out and said "officially, the game does not have this capability...") 1994 - Got a job in a print shop running a platemaking machine 1995 - Got a job as Art Director for a Educational Video Company Boss said, "I want a web site" Learned HTML Ran a WebStar Web server on a 61850 with Filemaker Pro as a backend DB Transferred all the data to an Access DB on a PC and bought a Netscape Server to host pages/DB applications learned Server-Side Javascript 1998 moved to Washington and started a consulting business.
