The United States of America was founded on the basic principles of human decency, that all people are created equal, that all people should be free, and that all people should have the right to pursue their brand of happiness.
These aren't Judeo Christian principles...these aren't Jewish or Buddhist or Sikh principles....these principles belong to no religion, sect, creed, race, culture or nation.....these are the basic principles upon which all of humankind should be built. Any institution which professes to advance the cause of human society MUST borrow from these principles. BUT...no institution can lay claim to sole proprietorship of these principles. Such a declaration can only lay the groundwork for the dangerous ideologies built upon exclusionism. Sorry for the preaching....i'll shut up.
