Yet when you read the text of the Declaration of Independence, where this quote is taken from, the word Creator is mentioned once. The words Christian, Christianity, God etc. are never mentioned, and none of these words are mentioned in the Constitution, which is an infinitely more important document.
I maintain that while Christianity may have been in the hearts of some of the signers, it was not a driving force behind the forming of the United States, freedom from an oppressive tyrannical government that endangered the lives and livelihood of it's colonists was. While some were "Christian" (although the would probably refer to themselves as "Episcopalian", "Presbyterian", "Quaker" or other denominations) it's a historical fact that some of the founding fathers were Deists and some were Atheists. The Constitution guarantees us the right to believe, in anything we want or to not believe at all. It also guarantees that we will be free from any nationalized religion.
