WEP is just plain weak.  An average speed laptop can break into a WEP-protected 
network in about 3 minutes - maybe 10 at the outside.  There are easy to obtain 
kits - essentually Linux distros that can run from flash drives - who's sole 
purpose is to find, crack, and attach to WEP-secured networks.

It's left the arena of "sophisticated attacker".  Any Wardriver can do it with 
no training and a little balls.

Once the script-kiddies can break a security implementation I'm out of there...

Of course this says nothing about the fact that even IF WEP were better 
Nintendo is still only supporting one of many popular protocols.  Basically 
telling people like me "screw you".  I'm not reconfiguring my router and nine 
other devices just because the DS decided to be lazy and only implement the 
easiest protocol.
