Train/Subway! There's a subway stop right down the street from your hotel.
Holy crap, don't do the cab!!!!! and (you probably already know this) you're only a couple blocks from the Gershwin when you're at the hotel...so you're golden there. back in '03 I stayed at the Washington/Jefferson which is about two blocks the other side of the Gershwin on 51st, so I know from whence I speak.
