Let me phrase this better, it's primary and original purpose is as a weapon
anything else, target shooting, hunting, etc came after the primary
purpose..

Anyways the original point is that owning a gun comes with very specific
obligations, including the safe storage there of. If you don't take
reasonable action to safely store the weapon then you should be culapable.

I have neither incapacitated nor have I ended the life of any human being
during the course of using my guns for their purposes.  And I sincerely hope
that I never have cause to.
