Well..she has money. Probably gets the best healthcare in the US if not the world simply by way of what she can afford. So...by modern day Darwinism as you put it, she has money = she lives.
There is an assumption somewhere inside all this which implies that poor people are so due to their own faults, flaws,lack of intelligence and inefficiencies.
