IMO, I don't think our consumption has dropped enough to hit the oil barons 
where it hurts. Until there's a viable, reasonablly priced alternative to 
fossil fuels, we won't see the massive drop in oil consumption that we need to 
see.

There are enough folks who's lives and livelyhoods depend on consuming fossil 
fuels to keep demand up until there's an alternative. Instead of pouring money 
into the oil company's pockets the government should be making huge investments 
in alternative energy sources.
