The home value number for my zip looks about right at $695,000. Most
houses are in the half-million rage with a few in the multi-million. I
think its a matter of what else is in your zip code. If as I recall
you are down by the university your neighborhood my be quite high in
value (Nob Hill? North Campus?) but if your zip includes oh part of
Zuni say it would make a difference.

The thing that got me was that I put in my zip and it gave me the
statistics about my neighborhood (Foothills) as though they were for
the city. Population 17,000. Median household income in Albuquerque is
$112,000? Median housing age ten years? Population 89% Anglo? Um,
not....

I also have to question the air and water quality numbers. We have our
own water up there and I just looked over the stats the company sent
out. They do not jive with this at all.

Still, not sure how to do a better algorithm. This might be most
useful for someone trying to decide from out of town what houses they
want to look at when they relocate, but it does not tell the whole
story. For example, my neighborhood is not for someone looking for a
sense of local community. The selling points are the view and the
access to the wilderness trails. Downsides -- a car is a must, there
are almost no stores, and you do have to watch out to keep your pets
safe from coyotes, eagles and hawks.

For Nob Hill, to pick a neighborhood I am familiar with, the upside is
interesting shops and restaurants within walking distance, proximity
to events at the university, public transportation, and trees.
Downside would be noise, congestion, air quality. Coyotes are
non-existent but you might have to contend with traffic, concerts and
homeless people.

Very different as you see, but I suspect the home values are not very
different.
