You ever have one of those experiences... Where you tell people "don't do that, Bad Things will happen". And then a marketing person says "Do It, it will be fine"... and then hilarity -- for those foolhardy enough to listen -- ensues?
And even though you were just accused of being a punk and everything, you're asked to bust some overtime (probably because you'd, for once, said you wouldn't do any more) and work your magic to make the Bad Things un-happen? And you do (because low totems on the pole were feeling the pain), and then you point out the elephant in the room? And then catch flack for it? And then nothing is done to prevent said Things from recurring, even though you took it to the top, taking flack y todo? And then, about a month later, inexplicably (from a sane perspective), the same damn thing happens? Oh, did I forget to mention that the marketing person is still somehow an authority on the matter, although it's light-years outta their domain? Sanity is relative, I reckon. Yeah. I mean, I'm pretty sure it's a different day, but, fuck. it sure seems like one I had before. I feel like I'm living in a Dilbert cartoon. I don't think it would bother me so much if the people at the top weren't so o.k. with things as they are. It is, literally, insane. My mind is boggled. Since I decided to take it to the mat, I just can't believe the conversations I've had... it's... amazing... if being more amazed was possible... Really amazing that you could cause so many people to feel such pain, and not have a problem with yourself. I'm stoic and all that crap... trudge a million miles with a loaded pack, no complaints... but this... this... uncaring, just galls me. I'd hang better with fire and brimstone, than the sad deadness. "You are right". And!?! And?!? WHO CARES IF I'M RIGHT. Let's change this shit already. Damn. It ain't over yet, right?
