I can tell you from personal experience that finding you have an
untreatable form of cancer will radically change the way you deal with
life.  I'm not sure I consider myself brave, but I certainly take
necessary action with much less hesitation than before the diagnosis.
I do know I'm a much nicer person than I used to be because people
matter more to me now.
