I work out of the house, so count me in on the minimal driving club. I've put fewer than 6,000 miles on my car in the last year, and that's including three trips to Orange County and L.A that account for about 10% of the total. I have considered a scooter with surf rack for my surf excursions, but I have to drive on the freeway to get there, and there is no way in hell I'm driving a scooter on the freeways here.
That's actually a big obstacle in a lot of places. How many people would feel comfortable driving scooters to/from work or errands where they live? I have lots of freeways, and in my neighborhood I have lots of half-blind old people who regularly hit cyclists on the road, so scooters are out for me.
