Reading The Gulag Archipelago and Arthur Koestler's book Darkness At Noon caused me to revise everything I knew about politics. Much of my fear of the tyranny of the current goverment springs from knowing, based on these books, how totally power can corrupt and how easy it is for the people who stand against it to be cut down.
Solzhenitsyn was a brave man. There aren't many left.
