I just did a RAID 5 with 3 X 147 GB SCSI with 1 hot spare on an Adaptec RAID card. Took less than an hour. The hard drives are Seagate 15K U320.
Not sure if CPU/RAM has anything to do with it (I think it has more to do with the RAID card and the hard drives), but it was on a quad core 2.8 GHz server with 8GB RAM. -----Original Message----- From: C. We're upgrading a server this weekend, moving a single drive from a RAID 5 with 4 x 33 Gb hard drives to 4 147 Gb hard drives. Since I'm 30 miles from the office we're trying to schedule thing accordingly. Anyone have an idea, either calculated or from memory, on how long something like this should take?
