We already spend over a trillion dollars a year at home - just on
Social Security and Medicare.

I don't really want that money spent either way, but the war is a
one-time cost, whereas domestic taxation and spending, once it gets
enacted, is extremely hard to remove, and it becomes a drain on the
economy. Take Social Security and Medicare as the prime examples. What
started as programs to care for the very elderly has morphed into the
single biggest re-distribution of wealth in the history of mankind - a
program that takes money out of the pockets of working people and puts
it directly into the pockets of retired people.

The program is going to go broke, so what is Obama's solution? More
taxes! More taxes to the point where anyone who make a decent living
will end up with a negative return on the program over their
lifetimes. Remember, this is supposed to be a program for everyone,
and yet under Obama's proposal, a whole chunk of people would never
get back even what they put into it. That isn't fair and it isn't
right.
