Perhaps more attention is paid to these types of stories precisely BECAUSE of what else is going on in the world. There's only so many "we are all going to DIE!" or the "The US will be bankrupt in 2 months!" stories that one can stomach before they simply HAVE to tune into something a bit more lighthearted for a few minutes.
I've loved the idea of Bigfoot since I was a child, and even though I've long ago dismissed the possibility that he's real...I still enjoy reading stories and accounts of sightings and such. But the question still stands...why ruin your reputation and job as a hero police officer like one of these guys did???
