My point is that there is a double-standard at work here. Check out
Tim Pawlenty's bio:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tim_Pawlenty

He has a similar small-town, small-state background as Sarah Palin.
Granted, his small town government experience is in a town of 63,000+,
but that's not exactly New York, or even Minneapolis. So what's the
difference? He has more government experience, but he has more
government experience than Obama, too. So why the harsh put downs? I
want to know what the double standard is all about.

I'll give you a few quotes I heard from a female Obama supporter:

- "She looks like a librarian."
- "She looks like a schoolmarm."

Not exactly the stuff of feminist empowerment.

So I ask, once again, what is so deficient in Palin's resume compared
to, say, Pawlenty, or even Obama? Palin has the kind of small-town,
common-sense background of the people that built this country. Abraham
Lincoln, as we all remember from school, grew up in a log cabin.
Modest small-town roots do not make her worthless.

Just in case we need any further proof of a double standard at work,
let's address the question of readiness to stand up to thugs like
Vladimir Putin. Here is your 10 second profile of Sarah Palin:

- Favorite food: moose stew
- NRA member and gun owner
- Favorite sport: hockey (she doesn't just watch, she plays)
- Previous industry experience: Commercial fishing operator (Anyone
seen "Deadliest Catch"?)

Anyone sensing weakness in there?

The reactionary tripe coming from paleo-feminists in particular is
startling for its viciousness, and they freely admit that they have a
problem with Sarah Palin because she is a conservative. They want
women to be empowered- as long as they are women that tow the liberal
paleo-feminist line. Personally, I think she's a great model, just
like Hillary Clinton is a great model, of a woman that can be a leader
without having to fit into a specific stereotype, whether it be
conservative, liberal, or otherwise.
