I finally got a decent sized external drive so I could back up my laptop.
And got so enthusiastic backing it up that I ended up wiping the drive and
installing Ubuntu. For once, everything just worked. Install had no problems
with my funky screen resolution (1280x768), the weird external cd-rom drive
on my Latitude X1, the built in wifi card worked without a hitch, even the
vpn tunnel to a cisco server was happy. mmm...blissful linux
