I've been using linux vm's to do my rails development since ruby runs about 4 times as fast on linux than windows. It's kind of a pita to set up the samba shares and such. I recently found the andLinux distro. It's a variant of the linux kernel that runs in windows. It acts just like a regular distro, but the programs can interact directly with the windows desktop. As a matter of fact, I now have a right-click option to edit my xml files in Kate :)
Anyway, I've got mysql, ruby, apache2, mod_rails and rails all running in this distro. The distro sees the windows drives and automatically mounts them. I was able to point the virtual host directive directly to the windows directory where my source code is. Now, I can use my windows editors and have the linux box immediately see the changes. Oh, and the whole reason I started this was so I could finally use git.......and it works great. http://www.andlinux.org/ -- You see I really have to tell you That it all gets so intense From my experience It just doesnt seem to make sense Still...you turn me on ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Adobe® ColdFusion® 8 software 8 is the most important and dramatic release to date Get the Free Trial http://ad.doubleclick.net/clk;203748912;27390454;j Archive: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/CF-Community/message.cfm/messageid:270226 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/CF-Community/subscribe.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=89.70.5
