700 billion to bail out private industry? How could anyone that thinks of themselves as fiscally conservative, libertarian, or my god even AMERICAN consider this is beyond my ken.
This is the opposite of what our government should be doing. People make investments, they don't pay attention, people buy houses they can't afford, insurance companies are selling policies they never expect to pay, and couldn't. Anyone in government that agrees to this should be tried for fraud at least as an accessory after the fact. The schlock house brokers, on wall street an main street selling pipe dreams to middle and lower America, getting rich on dreams of owning a home, and not living on cat food in my retirement. No more. Protect DoD execs with DoD assets, not contractors, I understand DoJ and DoS contracting out, but the Army? We no longer have cooks for christ sakes, kbr does that, and the laundry, and the commo for phones and internet access. No more IT contractors here in the government. Start paying GS salaries (lower) and giving GS bennies (better) to all these contractors, slice swaths of their jobs as they are often redundant and unnecessary. With the GS title goes civil and criminal liability that I as a contractor don't fall under. I might be killing my own career but lets be honest a lot of bad applications, money spent on nothing has occurred in the contracting world. Christ look at NMCI. Government spending is out of control on all fronts. Department of Homeland Security needs to go away. Take DEA and ATF with it. Make the FBI the sole remaining federal law enforcement agency. Jurisdiction between state and federal are clear. The FBI does not and should not have a mandate to operate internationally. Make the CIA the sole civilian intelligence agency. Roll the NSA and the geospatial guys, and all the other little 3 letter OGAs under their roof. That way there can't be any chain of command or communications issues between agencies, they all work for the same one. Make one director of national intelligence (cabinet level post) in charge of FBI domestic intelligence, CIA foreign intelligence, and DoD operational intelligence. This office would contain liaison officers from all child organizations to contribute to information sharing as warranted, and where and when allowed under the law. do away with the federal reserve bank, go back to the gold standard, get the government out of the loan business totally, out of the insurance business totally. No more FDIC. No more insured loans, other than VA. No more corporate welfare. No more paying farmers not to farm. No more subsidies to multi billion dollar companies (like Boeing) to compete with other billion dollar companies (like Airbus). How is getting ourselves $700,000,000,000 further in debt going to help our debt and liquidity problem? Where are we going to get the money? Another loan from our good friends the Chinese Communists? Jesus they already own most of our debt don't they? So is it going to go loan shark style, like Vinnie on the block, when they come to collect?
