Something occurred to me tonight. Seeing the market tanking and $1.2 trillion dollars of wealth being wiped out in a couple of weeks, I started to think about who actually lost all that money, and it occurred to me that older Americans have largely been the losers in this episode, because they have the most to lose.
My theory is that there is so much opposition to the plan because most people don't have a lot directly at stake- that is, invested in the market. Opposition to the bailout is, in essence, punishment of older Americans by younger Americans for financial ineptitude. Thought-provoking, no? http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2007-05-20-cover-generation-wealth_N.htm ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Adobe® ColdFusion® 8 software 8 is the most important and dramatic release to date Get the Free Trial http://ad.doubleclick.net/clk;207172674;29440083;f Archive: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/message.cfm/messageid:271508 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/subscribe.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=89.70.5
