I would counter that 'reasonable' assumption with the unfortunate 
reality that many people live beyond their means using way to much 
consumer credit.  Thus the statistic of having a job, or lack there of, 
probably has little collation with the average credit score of different 
economic strata.

A person who lives with-in their means, even if they do not have steady 
employment, is easily going to out-score one who makes six figures a 
year, but is leverage to his eye-balls to maintain some perceived lifestyle.
