I think you are underestimating the power of tragedy. If Obama loses, there
is still time between election day and inauguration day to redo the cover,
do an end note and position the book as a look at the rise of the black
political class and how it almost had the ultimate victory in its grasp, yet
it managed to slip away once more.

Oprah would happily have it on her book club, a look at how far they have
come and why they couldn't take that one last step. Hand wringing, internal
agonizing, wondering if they lost their one good opportunity for a
generation...second guessing by the pundit class and anguishing over what
might have been is golden. It sells a lot better than smug self
congratulations.
