Wouldn't you group Blankley as Main Stream? I certainly would. And he is definitely biased. Carl Rove is now mainstream. Although, he does appear to try to be rational, these days.
As is George Will. And plenty of others. Ever heard of Fox? Or News Corp? As for the NYT, you must not follow it very closely. In the 80s, it was basically a mouthpiece for the Reagan administration when it came to foreign policy. And it's business coverage could not please fiscal conservatives more. Its social policies have forever leaned significantly liberal, but the rest of the paper has, for the most part, lurched from right to left along a fairly center line. Last time i looked at the numbers tracking liberal/conservative story choice and slant in major papers, it was about a 58/42 skew liberal/conservative. Which is less than the current self-labeling of our population. Many reporters do lean liberal personally. Probably even most. But that _does not_ mean their writing does. And MOST reporters do not give to ANY political party, fwiw.
