Investing in productivity of working people- like providing children with a
good education? The public school system is failing and failing utterly.
Let's see Reich support vouchers, charter schools, merit pay for teachers,
and other creative ideas to give parents options for educating their
children. In fact, why no go whole hog and have the Feds pay to sponsor
state-run initiatives for online schooling- a mix of home schooling and
remote teaching? I would love to see a pilot program like that. Why do the
Democrats keep blocking reform in the schools? Teachers unions.

We already have progressive taxes at the Federal level. Why is it that the
only tax policy liberals can come up with is to punish success? All it does
is encourage successful people to move their money offshore. Isn't that what
he just said we want to avoid? But no, he wants to go even further and
punish success with punitive taxes at the state and local level as well.
That's foolish and will only hasten the departure.

Reich is a smart guy but he totally fails to understand why we can't keep
the economic engine running. We have too many retirees for the number of
working people in the US, and the situation is about to get a whole lot
worse with the Boomers retiring. The retired people have most of the money,
and to add insult to injury, they keep voting for the government to borrow
money that they will never have to pay back because they will be dead.

This is the legacy of Social Security.
