I have to ask, what phones are we talking about? The phones provided by MWR (moral welfare and recreation) are government phones, the rooms have big signs saying you will be listened in on, the computers have pop ups that inform you that all activity is monitored.
If you are talking about private cell phones in theater, I have a problem with them listening, however the soldiers are violating policy by even having them and can be charged should the chain of command feel like it. It's a tough one. Additionally we submit to a significantly higher level of surveillance by taking military and national security positions, it's part of being military, one of the things you give up, privacy, and search and seizure. Your command can inspect your home or car at will. Tough call. I obviously don't think it should be used against CITIZENS not in the military. Dana wrote: > you sure?
