> WTF???

I love the fact that not a single news article includes the following facts:

The bill was originally proposed to the House in 2007 where it was
sponsored by John Conyers (D-MI) and co-sponsored by 19 other Congress
members:
Rep Berman, Howard L. [D-CA-28], Rep Bono Mack, Mary [R-CA-45], Rep
Chabot, Steve [R-OH-1], Rep Coble, Howard [R-NC-6], Rep Cohen, Steve
[D-TN-9],
Rep Feeney, Tom [R-FL-24], Rep Gallegly, Elton [R-CA-24], Rep
Goodlatte, Bob [R-VA-6], Rep Issa, Darrell E. [R-CA-49], Rep
Jackson-Lee, Sheila [D-TX-18],
Rep Keller, Ric [R-FL-8], Rep Pence, Mike [R-IN-6], Rep Schiff, Adam
B. [D-CA-29], Rep Sherman, Brad [D-CA-27], Rep Smith, Lamar [R-TX-21],
Rep Wasserman Schultz, Debbie [D-FL-20], Rep Watson, Diane E.
[D-CA-33], Rep Watt, Melvin L. [D-NC-12], Rep Wexler, Robert [D-FL-19]

For those not keeping score at home, that's 10 Dems and 10 Reps. When
it passed the House with a vote of 410-11, it was introduced into the
Senate by Sen.Patrick Leahy (D-VT) and co-sponsored by 21 other
senators:
Sen Alexander, Lamar [R-TN], Sen Bayh, Evan [D-IN], Sen Bond,
Christopher S. [R-MO], Sen Boxer, Barbara [D-CA], Sen Brown, Sherrod
[D-OH], Sen Cardin, Benjamin L. [D-MD], Sen Clinton, Hillary Rodham
[D-NY], Sen Corker, Bob [R-TN], Sen Cornyn, John [R-TX], Sen
Feinstein, Dianne [D-CA], Sen Graham, Lindsey [R-SC], Sen Gregg, Judd
[R-NH], Sen Hatch, Orrin G. [R-UT], Sen Hutchison, Kay Bailey [R-TX],
Sen Levin, Carl [D-MI], Sen Schumer, Charles E. [D-NY], Sen Smith,
Gordon H. [R-OR], Sen Specter, Arlen [R-PA], Sen Stabenow, Debbie
[D-MI]. Sen Voinovich, George V. [R-OH], Sen Whitehouse, Sheldon
[D-RI]

.... or an equal party sponsorship in the Senate. It passed the
Senate, "by Unanimous Consent."

The point of all that is that regardless of where Bush stood on the
bill, he could not have vetoed it.

The other point is that if you want to point fingers at who/what is
wrong with our country's government, point the fingers at the
encumbents from both sides of the aisle that put much more effort into
keeping their butts in their comfy seats rather than listening to
their constituents.

At this point, I think that the role of the citizen, regardless of
party affiliation, is to deliver the electoral equivalent of a Roman
Decimation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decimation_(Roman_army) ) on
November 4. The sad point is that when it comes to the Presidental
ticket, only one has someone who is not a Beltway insider.

Until Later!
