I dislike it immensely, but as I said, when you are in a sub-basement of
Hell, you need to get out ASAP. All other considerations come second.
Clearly we were on the edge of a financial collapse of unprecedented
proportions. It may still happen, but quick action by governments around the
world has given us all a chance to avoid a total meltdown.

I would love to see us get out of all these corporate involvements sooner
rather than later, and I would love to see the whole thing pay for itself
through returns on the investment the taxpayers are making.

As for tax credits, they are like credits for anything else - favorable
treatment by the government directed at specific policy goals. Tax credits
for business encourage R & D, hiring, moving to certain locations or staying
in certain locations- all kinds of things. It's easy to bash greedy
corporations when times are tough, but the truth is that everyone at every
level of government uses tax credits for people and businesses. There are
good uses of tax credits, and bad uses. It's just a policy tool.
