Speaking for myself ... There is no moral equivalency between the US and the Arab nations, at least related to the parallel path you try to draw here.
First, most of the Arab world, even if secretly, embraces Western culture. The mullahs may hate it, but that's not the reason they hate us. It's just another excuse. They hate us for one reason only. We support Israel and Israel is populated by Jews, whom they hate with all the racial hatred taught to them by the Nazis (literally). Yes, they are taught by evil men to hate us from birth. But there is no such propaganda going on in the US. Prior to Sept. 11 you would be hard pressed to find an American who hated Arabs, especially with the Iranian hostage crisis such a distant memory. But even today, Americans who hate Arabs are the exception not the rule. Most of us would prefer to live in peace with Arabs. We do not wish their destruction, as they wish ours (speaking of those who protest in the street, which may, even for their large numbers, be a minority of the population, and most probably don't even know what they believe, they just follow the mob). There are no evil men teaching us to hate Arabs or Muslims or anybody for that matter. Not only is this not two sides of the same coin, there isn't even a coin. There is no basis for comparison.
