I work for the Navy and most of them like to vote republican (the ones I
work with and they aren't low on the totem pole) simply because they know
that DoD gets more funding from republican's then the democrat's.

I am still trying to figure out where everyone gets this idea that those of
us in the military are poor and liberal. When we received our absentee
ballots last month, of about 100 soldiers in my company, maybe five voted
democrat. And in the 12 years that I have been in the military, over 80% of
those I served with were republican. And a lot of us are not poor. There are
a lot of soldiers these days who come from middle class or even upper class
families who chose to serve because of patriotism. Yeah the lure of money
for enlisting as well as money for college makes the military an attractive
option, but overall a lot of the soldiers that I talk to joined for
patriotic reasons.
