The festival is a charitable event put on every year by the Hindu Center of Virginia in Richmond. They have always welcomed state and local politicians to come and say hello, regardless of affiliation, and they have for the last 27 years eschewed campaigning by any candidates for office.
So at the very front of the convention center hall where the event was held, some guy set up an Obama campaign table. People were quite upset at the campaigning, so the organizers (Obama supporters, no less) told the guy to leave.
