Did you read the ABC article it cherry picks out of? What Biden said seemed pretty reasonable to me.
After the election, foes are going to challenge us. I think that would be true with a McCain or Obama administration. Does Obama run and hide? Would McCain lose it and start a wider conflict? Any time you have a change in leadership you are going to have people trying you. Friends and allies jockeying for favorite positions, seeing how the balance of power goes. Foes and enemies trying to push their own agenda as a new administration settle in. Biden's point was that Obama is going to have some tough decisions to make and tough decisions are rarely popular. They won't necessarily have 100% approval when first brought out. So he's asking people to settle in for the long haul, to not be bandwagon supporters, and support Obama because he has the judgment and character to lead in these times. Obviously you may disagree with Biden's analysis of Obama's judgment and leadership. I still don't see the problem with Biden saying that Obama isn't going to have a unicorn-filled, fantasy land walk in the park time as President though.
