Certain Catholic schools, which have religious studies, are
Catholic schools (at least none of the ones I've ever seen) do NOT teach creationism AS SCIENCE. That's the crux of the matter: creationism taught as philosophy, as religious studies, as social studies - none of that is a problem. You CANNOT teach a non-scientific idea as science without affecting the quality of Science education. It just doesn't work. > To be sure, we got a lot of problems in our education problem, but > teaching ID isn't really the major one. You can't teach the system of science then introduce an idea that clearly flouts that system without affecting the integrity of teaching. Also it (should be) clearly dangerous to allow a generated social controversy to stand in as a façade for a scientific controversy where NONE exists. There are many other social controversies that are often refuted by scientific study. The social and scientific aspects of global warming, homosexuality, sex education, race, etc are often at odds. Should they all be taught as desired in science class?
