A conservative friend of mine (McCain voter for sure) has tuned out as
many have, but he had a VERY interesting observation:

He said that it can't be healthy that US citizens are spending 3 years
worrying about US presidential politics because:

1.) There's no other outcome that for it to divide the nation.  Which
is dangerous for a country that's had a civil war just 150 years ago,
and

2.) Why are spending so much time worrying about our government?
Doesn't that implicitly mean that government's level of importance in
our daily lives has gotten WAY out of hand?

As a conservative at heart, that comment really sticks with me.

There's a counter-argument, of course, but it's a VERY interesting point to me.
