It's not the money. It's the hypocrisy. You can't claim to be just a little hockey mom from a small town to get people to vote for you, then turn around and drop 150K at Needless Markup without looking like a fool.
Plus, it wasn't Palin that spent the money, it was the RNC, and some people think it was against the rules of the election. Stupid move, either way. Also, there was a lot of noise about Obama's stage set during the DNC, including a lot of whining by Sam and Robert here on the list. Google it, you'll see.
