I'm not saying McCain is a good choice. Never have. Unfortunately, this
election (like most) comes down to trying to wade thru rivers of bullshit to
figure out who is the lesser of two evils.
Personally, I don't know for sure who that is. I don't think any of us
*know*. All we can do is vote what our gut tells us to vote.

I don't take any issue with folks pointing out McCain's shortcomings as well
as Obama's. But I do take issue with folks who blindly toe a party line.

I'm sorry... and just to be very clear here, this is definitely not aimed at
you specifically (or even at all... as I mentioned in another thread you're
one of the few on this list that I believe to be objective)... but there are
so many people on this list that blindly believe one is "good" and one is
"bad". Those same people put down one candidate or the other... but when
their candidate is called out they'll say, "oh, but it's ok when the other
guy does it" or skirt the issue.

McCain choosing Palin as a running mate does not automatically make Obama a
good choice (again... i know you didn't say that. but I get the *very*
distinct impression that others feel that way). I've said to my wife a
number of times that I'd LOVE to see transcripts of what was said during the
discussions that led up to the choice of Palin.

As far as Palin goes... I don't think she's evil incarnate but I remain
unconvinced that she's prepared to take over the country in the unlikely
event (sarcasm) that something happens to McCain. That does scare me quite
a bit.

But there are things about Obama that scare me as well.

I hate to "throw my vote away" by voting independent. But boy I do long for
the day when I can head to the polls and hold my head up high because I'm
voting for the ticket that I really truly and honestly believe in. Not the
one I think is going to suck less.
