Brilliant soundtrack and great movie. Have to agree on the sadness of not having the Leonard Cohen version of the song on there. Christian Slater's early work was such a awesome trove of teen angst movie making. Pump Up the Volume and Heathers are two of the finest. Damn I love Heathers. Even Gleaming the Cube was a good angsty teen skate movie. Best part of Pump Up the Volume? A series of cut away shots of Samantha Mathis repeatedly leaning in to say something, pausing, then licking her lips and pulling back just slightly. 3 times if I recall. Just delicious. Yummy. Sadly I can't say that I've been wild about anything else she's done as far as I can recall. But that was awesome. The "eat me beat me lady". Heathers totally beats it hands down for dialogue though. Many a time is the phrase heard around my house from there: "What about your clothes?" "I was hoping you could tear them off me, sport."
