Pretty interesting. I wonder though if these strangers would agree to want
to be touched by the other if not in this particular setting.
I also often wonder where we (Americans) got this phobia about invading
someone's personal space, touching, etc... My familiy is a very touchy-feely
type group. It is nothing to give my brother a hug or to touch each other
when we talk or stand closer than the norm. This is sometimes a problem when
for instance I would be at a client meeting and I would touch the person I
am talking to on the arm without even thinking about it. The common reaction
is that they immediately pull away, then I have to apologize and all. And of
course withg my daughter being a teenager, it is really not cool to show any
type of public affection. I do recall being that way with my mom when I was
a teenager though.
America really is a prudish paranoid country.
