Power Play, where your team has a one or more man advantage on the ice (due to a penalty) so you can go 2 on 1 with the goalie etc.
As for the goalie leaving the ice, yes it is but its about the toughest position to play in hockey, you need a break, so you try and switch off when the puck is in the other end. regards, larry -- Larry C.
