I'll just say, I think there is an underestimation on how many of the
supporters of Prop 8 and other state's 'protect marriage' proposals hold
just this bigoted opinion.

These supporters are against homosexuality, period, and they would be
just fine with it actually being outlawed if they could somehow swing
that. They are going to fight tooth and nail to protect us from this
ungodly behavior being condoned in this country in any form or shape.

I'm fine with removing the word 'marriage' from the civil aspects of a
union. I recognize this would be a very difficult thing to accomplish
in light of the history and tradition of the use of that word both
civilly and religiously. But, I think such a fight would more clearly
define the true bigots who don't want to condone such a thing in any way
from those who just want to protect their personal beliefs and local
churches. And the former group would probably have a much harder time
persuading a majority of a state's population.
