Power Play is when one team commits a penalty and the player that commits the penalty
gets sent to the penalty box for two minutes. During that time, their team has to
play with one less man. If the opposing team scores within that 2 minutes, then the
power play ends and both teams are back to full strength.

As for pulling the goalie, if a team is down by a goal in the few remaining minutes of
the game, then the team that's down will pull the goalie to put an extra skater on the
ice giving them a one man advantage similar to the advantage that they have during a
power play. The down side is is that if the opposing team gets their stick on the
puck, all they have to do is fling to the other end into the other net for an easy
goal. The objective is to not let that happen, or if they are able to do that, then
one of the skaters hauls ass down after the puck and tries to stop it. Believe it or
not, it's tough to score on an empty net with 6 guys on the ice.

Subject: Jedi Knight query + Random Hockey question

Yes, today is my day for game questions...

Jedi Knight 2 question - SPOILER ALERT...
  .
  .
  .
  .

I'm in the city where I need to hunt down the crime lord. I'm in the
room where, directly in front of me, is a small pond of water that is
electrocuted. How do I get upstairs?

  Hockey question -

I noticed this during the olympics but never got around to asking...

  a) What is a 'power play'? Why does one team get it and why it is
  time-limited?
  b) Why does the goalee leave the ice some times? Isn't that dangerous?
