I'll say. but the owner got greedy and moved the team when the city refused to give him the laundry list of concessions, a new arena, 25 years of tax breaks, all the parking fees etc. And this was a city that lived and breathed hockey. Every school it seems had a hockey rink. All community centers also had one or two. You even had to drive very carefully on the side streets to avoid the kids playing street hockey.
sigh. and the caps suck. but damn that was a good Olympic gold medal round for hockey. Gretsky finally proved himself as a GM and coach. larry -- Larry C.
