I don't use link tables.

You have to create a new access project.  It is not a mdb file.  It is an
adp file.  Just click new and then select project with existing database.
You can them type in the location of the database, username, and password.

One other neat feature of the access front end is the copy and paste
ability.  You can copy and paste records with great quickness.  I'll open my
local, dev, and live databases and copy the records over all the time from
one to the other.
