I am about to disappear into a proxy vpn problem so let me just clarify in case it looks like it may be the thing... recent M$ server versions can do large packets. However for remote connections all intervening hardware must be running fairly recent firmware --- for instance the Cisco IOS must be 12 point something or above. If this seems to be the issue I can send you some kb links later on.
