at the beginning of the season when he was trying to renegotiate his
contract, i was all for it. and i *hate* contract holdouts. but i felt
that he played well over and above what was asked of him last season what
with playing injured and all. i felt that he far exceeded what was expected
of him based on his contract, and deserved to be rewarded.
of course, he was. i was glad.

then all of the fines came to light. then he missed that rehab/therapy
session and got suspended for a game (the seahawks game, where we pretty
much proved that we don't need him the first time). then the fines for
criticizing an official and throwing a ball into the stands (the latter, i
don't agree with, but it's the rules).

it's as if he got everything he wanted, and then panicked. don't know if
it's that he can't handle the spotlight or the expectations or what. but
yeah, we don't need him. it's nice to have a receiver that regularly draws
double-coverage and frees up guys like steve smith or kevin boss (who helped
prove we didn't need jeremy shockey). it's nice to have a 6'12" receiver
who can jump up and catch a ball thrown well over the defender. but the
giants are following the patriots formula. it's not about any one guy.
it's not about having a superstar. it's about having talented players that
comprise a well-oiled machine. the sum of the parts are not greater than
the whole.

i've also felt like with plax in the game, gilbride (our offensive
coordinator) tries too hard to get him the ball. without him, it seems the
playcalling is spread out a bit more.

yeah, i wouldn't be heartbroken at all if i read today that effective
immediately, plax was no longer a giant.

i appreciate his efforts last season. i haven't forgotten. but he got
paid, and he got more chances than most people deserve. time to cut the
distraction and focus on the game.
